What skills do I need?

You do not require any specific qualifications or experience. However, you will require the following important qualities and skills:

  • Act in a non-judgemental and open minded manner
  • Commitment to confidentiality
  • Interest in equality and diversity
  • Flexibility

What we can offer you

Volunteering with Victim Support is very rewarding and satisfying; you will have the opportunity to provide people with practical and emotional support to help them overcome an upsetting time in their life. As a volunteer you will also receive specialised training, ongoing support and personal and professional development.

Volunteers to provide emotional support over the phone and face to face for victims of hate crime.

Volunteers to engage with the local community to raise awareness of hate crime. This may include attending events, running stalls, leaflet drops and being visible in the community.

Hate Crime Leaders act as a point of contact within their community to promote positive engagement with services, encourage reporting of hate crime and hate incidents and help people access support.
